DESCRIPTION:Tutors: Ruth Burbidge & Terry Smurthwaite\n\nEnsemble playing in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere\, this workshop is aimed at experienced adult players who ideally offer two instruments and are able to swap between them. The ability to  hold your own part in a group and good sight-reading skills are key. Expect a wide variety of interesting music and technique tuition\, as required. \nRuth’s musical training includes three years at the Royal Academy of Music\, and after several years’ teaching\, a year at Trinity College of Music. Well-known for her accompanying and tutoring  skills\, she is experienced in conducting small groups\, chamber groups and orchestras throughout the UK. \nTerry regularly conducts Society of Recorder Players’ meetings at Leeds\, Bingley and York. He also conducts a group which meets weekly in Ilkley and has recently founded and conducts The Rombalds Recorders\, a group set up to perform early music. In addition to bringing a wide range of music\, he is able to offer advice on the techniques of ensemble playing and musicianship. \nFULLY BOOKED –  Waiting List available

SUMMARY:An Advent Walk with St John of the Cross
DESCRIPTION:Leader: Canon Brenda Lofthouse\n\nThrough his poetry and prose\, we will explore St John’s understanding of the human/divine relationship on the soul’s pathway into God. \nBrenda is a Canon Emeritus of Bradford Cathedral. Following a career in the NHS she was ordained in the Church of England\, and served as a Parish Deacon and a Vicar\, both in Bradford  Diocese. Since retirement she has been involved in various aspects of Diocesan programmes\, with a special interest in spirituality\, and has led retreats and Quiet Days on many occasions. \nBrenda is a Voyager in the Community of Aidan and Hilda.
